Zephron is a largely forested planet, with a chlorine-based atmosphere and oceans of dinitrogen tetrahydride and water. Life seeded by Brift is carbon-based, while the native life is sodium-based, and so is far less varied.

Zephron galaxy stones include galaxy zircons, galaxy amythests, and galaxy opals.

Chemical Composition[]

Zephron's atmosphere is 32% carbon tetrachloride, 28% chlorine dioxide, 23% carbon dioxide, 8% elemental chlorine, and 3% nitrogen, the rest being trace gases such as ozone, dioxide, dinitrogen tetrahydride fumes, and neon.

The dinitrogen tetrahydride - water oceans have sodium acetate dissolved in them in small amounts, as well as various gases found in the atmosphere.

The upper crust of Zephron is largely sodium-carbonate, with traces of silver, osmium, tungsten, and lithium. The metalic core is quite small, made up of osmium, with amounts of silver, tungsten, and sodium.

Biochemistry on Zephron[]

Most Zephron biology is carbon based, however there are some lifeforms based on nitrogen.

Carbonic life takes in sodium carbonate and chlorine dioxide, and releases salt. Within the organism, the sodium and chlorine bond, leaving the carbon and oxygen, which become new biomass along with traces of chlorine. Carbonic life makes up the majority of mobile land-life, which exist in complex ecosystems of predator and prey.

1-Nitrogenous life takes in dinitrogen tetrahydride and chlorine dioxide, and release water. Within the cell, the oxygens absorb the hydrogens around the nitrogen, leaving chlorine, nitrogen, and water. This type of life is predominantly single-celled, existing in visible scum-blooms on the surfaces of bodies of liquid.

2-Nitrogenous life takes in sodium carbonate and dinitrogen tetrahydride, and releases hydroxide and elemental carbon, which it forms into a shell of diamond. In smaller species this becomes a wood-like structure, and in larger ones it becomes like a mollusk or clam's shell, which is useful, given that most 2-nitrogenous life exists at the bottom of ocens. Within the organism's body, the oxygen strips the hydrogen off of the nitrogen, leaving sodium, nitrogen and carbon.

Ecology on Zephron[]

A major species is the 2-nitrogenous Geuron, a swamp-dwelling stalk that grows into the ground and into surrounding liquid. These grow small spherical spores used as jewelry by some primitive tribes.
